This is my first post for the second quarter. We were told that keeping a blog is not a requirement anymore but additional points will be given to those who will still have an updated blog. And I need all the additional points I can get. :D
We had an activity about radiation, a crossword puzzle, which I am proud to say I have perfected. *yay for me!* Oh, and I'm not icluded in our family day. How great is that? That's all I wanted to say. ~toodles! [jana[ rants about physics at 6:16 AM ---------- Friday, August 17, 2007I was told by philip, on of my classmates that our blog should contain pictures of the ray diagrams,, so here they are even though they're late but technically they aren't since i posted the instructions a long long time ago. the pictures were just a little late, that's all. Because of the typhoon (Egay), classes were suspended. Since I have nothing better to do, i decided to update my blog. Due to the bad weather since last week, we only went to school for 6 days instead of 10 for the past 2 weeks. The result of which is the undefinable schedule it left us for our exams. There I've mentioned the problem: EXAMS.
Our exam in this subject was scheduled on the third day, which is known as the 'sinumpang araw'. Why? Because all of the hardest subjects are scheduled together in one day. I mean really, they could've distributed the all those subjects but no, let's put it in one day. Back to the physics exam, it was quite easy *yes easy* when compared to the past summative exams given by Sir Mendoza. I really don't know if I'm going to get a good grade, but I'm positive that I will at least pass. This is the only subject I studied prior to the day of exams, so I think it should really pay off. I will know the results of the exams tomorrow, wish me luck, or my mom is going to kill me *literally*. Just wanted to rant, that's it. Til next post ~toodles! And now the last of the 'required posts', the one about fiber optics.
>A technology that uses glass (or plastic) threads (fibers) to transmit data. A fiber optic cable consists of a bundle of glass threads, each of which is capable of transmitting messages modulated onto light waves. Fiber optics has several advantages over traditional metal communications lines: Fiber optic cables have a much greater bandwidth than metal cables. This means that they can carry more data. Fiber optic cables are less susceptible than metal cables to interference. Fiber optic cables are much thinner and lighter than metal wires. Data can be transmitted digitally (the natural form for computer data) rather than analogically. The main disadvantage of fiber optics is that the cables are expensive to install. In addition, they are more fragile than wire and are difficult to splice. Fiber optics is a particularly popular technology for local-area networks. In addition, telephone companies are steadily replacing traditional telephone lines with fiber optic cables. In the future, almost all communications will employ fiber optics. ***everything you read here are from http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/f/fiber_optics.html and i would like to thank Mark Bustos of III Mendel for the link. Thank you! [jana[ rants about physics at 6:29 AM ----------
Before anything else, it is now 9:30 and i am sleepy. I normally sleep by 8. stupid blog.just wanted to rant a bit. Bcak to bussiness here's the Similarities betweeen th ecamera and the human eye.
COMPARISON OF THE HUMAN EYE AND CAMERA* Opening for light to enter Eye: Pupil Camera: Aperture * Object of light action to form image Eye: Photoreceptors (cones and rods) in retina Camera: Photosensitive chemicals on films * Refracts light Eye: Cornea; aqueous and vitroues humor Camera: Glass biconvex lens *Controls the amount of lights Eye: Iris muscles Camera: Diaphragm *Focusing mechanism Eye: Changes focal length of lens using ciliary muscles Camera: Changes distance between lens and film [jana[ rants about physics at 6:26 AM ----------
MIRRORS
HOW TO DO A RAY DIAGRAM FOR CONCAVE MIRROR: 1. Draw a line from the tip of the object parallel to the mirror; the first incident ray. 2. Draw another line from the tip of the object passing throught the focal point; second incident ray. 3. From the first incident ray, draw another line passing throught the focal point; ray of reflection 1. 4. From the second incident ray, draw another line parallel to the main axis used; ray of reflection 2 5.Draw a perpendicular line from the intersection of the two rays of reflection to the main axis. HOW TO DO A RAY DIAGRAM FOR CONVEX MIRROR: 1. Draw a line parallel to the main axis from the tip of your object. 2. Draw another line from the tip of the objedct passing through the focal point at the back of the mirror. 3. Draw a line passing the point the first incident ray touches the mirror and also passing throught the focal point at the back. 4. Then, draw another line parallel to the main axis and passing throught the point where the second incident ray touches the mirror. 5. The last two lines drawn should be extended up to the back of the mirror. 6. Now, the intersection of the rays is the tip of your image. Draw a perpendicular line from it to the main axis. HOW TO DO A RAY DIAGRAM FOR PLANE MIRROR: 1. Draw a line representing your mirror. 2. Draw an arrow to represent your object. 3. Draw 2 lines from the tip of the arrow to the mirror. 4. Draw another two lines from the other end of the line to the mirror. 5. Get the reflected ray by having the same measure of degrees formed. 6. Connect the rays at the back of the mirror. 7. You should have all the measurements checked for you to have the image correctly placed. FOR THE LENS HOW TO DRAW A RAY DIAGRAM FOR CONVERGING LENSES: 1. First incident ray: Draw a parallel line from the tip of the object to the lens. 2. Second incident ray: Draw a line from the tip of the object to the center of the lens, or the intersection of your axes. 3. Third incident ray: Draw a line from the tip of the object passing throught the focal point in front of the lens. 4. Draw a line from the the point where the first incident ray touches the lens to the focal point at the back of the lens. 5. Extend the second incident ray up to the back of the lens. 6. Draw a line parallel to the main axis from the tip of the third incident ray. 7. The intersection of the extension of the 3 rays is the tip of your image. Draw a perpendicular line from it to the main axis. HOW TO DRAW A RAY DIAGRAM FOR DIVERGING LENSES: 1. First incident ray: Parallel line to axis, from tip to the lens. 2. Second incident ray: Draw a line from the tip of the object to the center of the lens, or the intersection of your axes. 3. Third incident ray: Draw a line from the tip of the object to the focal point at the back of the lens. 4. Draw a line passing through the focal point in front of the lens and passing through the point the first ray of incidence touches the lens. 5. From the point where the second incident ray meets the lens, draw a line parallel to the main axis. 6. Just extend the third incident ray. 7. the point where the three rays untersect is the tip of your arrow do the same instructions for the tail. Haha! i'm done! nyahaha! im going to look for the similarities bet. the camera and the human eye,,, so expect it to be posted later.^^ [jana[ rants about physics at 5:13 AM ----------
After ten years of not posting due to my new-found sickness called "katam", I'm here to update what has happened in my physics class. I submitted the paper by the way in which i have no idea what grade i got. The physics project will be submitted on friday, i really don't know what will happen to me and my groupmates on that matter. We had our first summative exam, no one passed, on the bright side, I am one of those few people who got 3+ ha. :D.
There I think that's about everything that happened that's worth mentioning. So following this post will be all about making diagrams. :D [jana[ rants about physics at 4:50 AM ---------- |
